Description: Connecting the mathematics students are learning in school to their and their communities鈥� experiences can impact how students engage with and understand the math they are learning and how they see themselves and others as doers of mathematics. Participants will consider and engage in sequences of related classroom activities, Excursions, that provide鈥痵tudents with the opportunity to uncover their diverse competencies, experiences, ideas, and interests while applying grade-level mathematics to new contexts that expand their views of their relationship to mathematics in the world.鈥��
